Finding Details:
The member was found to have committed professional misconduct in that the member:
- contravened the standards of practice of the profession and engaged in dishonourable and unprofessional conduct in February 2019 by making inappropriate and offensive comments about the member’s physician colleague, including: referring to the physician using words to the effect that they were “the worst of them all”, a “bitch”, “two faced”, and/or that they were “anti-nurse”; by making comments that were racist, inappropriate and offensive in front of a patient and a nursing student, including: referring to “mixed species” babies and people; and making a statement to the effect of if a “Chinese woman had a baby with a Canadian man the giant baby would not be able to fit through the woman’s pelvis”; and in August 2019, by making inappropriate and offensive comments about and/or towards another patient, including referring to the patient as a “bitch”.
