Finding Details:

The member was found to have committed professional misconduct in January 2023 in that the member:

• contravened the standards of practice of the profession and engaged in dishonourable and unprofessional conduct by making remarks to a patient when, in respect of a catheter insertion the member was performing and/or had just performed, the member said, “a little foreplay for ya”, or words to that effect; and
• failed to keep records as required, contravened the standards of practice of the profession and engaged in dishonourable and unprofessional conduct by failing to document the patient’s catheterization.

Outcome Details:

The Discipline Committee ordered that the member’s certificate of registration be suspended for 3 months; required the member to appear before the panel to be reprimanded; and imposed the following terms, conditions and limitations on the member’s certificate of registration:

• Must successfully complete specified remedial activities
• Must inform employer(s) of results of discipline hearing
• Must inform CNO of all nursing employer(s) for a period of time
