3b) Within 12 months from the date that this Order becomes final or the date the member returns to a nursing practice in obstetrics, whichever date is later, or within such longer time period as approved by the Director, the member shall successfully complete at her own expense a nursing course (with clinical or laboratory or other practical components) that have received prior approval from the Director regarding: obstetrics. The member must pass the course. If the course is graded, the member must receive a minimum passing grade of 65%. The member must provide the Director with proof of enrolment, successful completion of the course and the specific grade[s] received (if applicable).
4. All documents delivered by the member to the CNO, the Expert [or the employer(s)] will be delivered by verifiable method, the proof of which the member will retain.

Finding Details:
The member was found to have committed professional misconduct in September 2016 in that she:
- contravened the standards of practice of the profession; failed to keep records as required; and engaged in dishonourable and unprofessional conduct by failing to document regarding her care for a patient: her concerns about the fetal heart rate and review of those concerns with a fellow nurse; the patient’s requests for her to seek medical assistance; and her efforts to seek medical assistance on behalf of the patient; and
- contravened the standards of practice of the profession and engaged in dishonourable and unprofessional conduct regarding her care for a patient by failing to monitor the fetal heart rate and recognize incidents of abnormal fetal heart rate; failing to monitor the patient’s labour and recognize inadequate progress of the labour; and failing to make sufficient efforts to seek medical assistance for the patient.

The Discipline Committee ordered that the member’s certificate of registration be suspended for 5 months; required the member to appear before the panel to be reprimanded; and imposed the following terms, conditions and limitations on the member’s certificate of registration:
- Must successfully complete specified remedial activities
- Must successfully complete specified education
- Must inform employer(s) of results of discipline hearing
- Must inform College of all nursing employer(s) for a period of time
