Finding Details:
The member was found to have committed professional misconduct in that she:
- contravened the standards of practice of the profession and engaged in disgraceful, dishonourable and unprofessional conduct between December 2013 and February 2015 when she failed to maintain the boundaries of the therapeutic nurse-client relationship by bringing her children to a client’s home, engaging in a personal and sexual relationship with a family member of a client, residing in a client’s home and engaging in a financial relationship with a family member of a client; and
- contravened the standards of practice of the profession and engaged in disgraceful, dishonourable and unprofessional conduct when she failed to maintain the boundaries of the therapeutic nurse-client relationship by drinking alcoholic beverages with a family member of a client in the client’s residence when she was not on shift in January and February 2014, by offering to obtain a controlled substance for her client’s family member in or about late February or early March 2014 and by giving her client’s daughter 2-3 tablets of a controlled substance which were not prescribed to the client’s daughter in or about March 2014.

The Discipline Committee ordered that the member’s certificate of registration be suspended for 12month(s); required the member to appear before the panel to be reprimanded; directed that the member pay $1,500 for the College’s legal costs and expenses; and imposed the following terms, conditions and limitations on the member’s certificate of registration:
- Must successfully complete specified remedial activities
- Must inform employer(s) of results of discipline hearing
- Must inform College of all nursing employer(s) for a period of time
