Finding Details:
The member was found to have committed professional misconduct in August 2018 in that she:
- abused a patient verbally, physically and emotionally, contravened the standards of practice of the profession and engaged in dishonourable and unprofessional conduct by making inappropriate/unprofessional comments and gestures directed at a patient, including holding her finger close to the patient’s face, using words to the effect of “why can’t we just tranquilize her” and that the patient should be a boxer; and by bending the patient’s thumb and forcing their hand into the stand lift; and
- contravened the standards of practice of the profession and engaged in dishonourable and unprofessional conduct by disregarding the patient’s plan of care with respect to transfer of the patient.

The Discipline Committee ordered that the member’s certificate of registration be suspended for two months; required the member to appear before the panel to be reprimanded; and imposed the following terms, conditions and limitations on the member’s certificate of registration:
- Must successfully complete specified remedial activities
- Must inform employer(s) of results of discipline hearing
- Must inform College of all nursing employer(s) for a period of time
