Finding Details:
The member was found to have committed professional misconduct in June 2016 in that she:
- abused a client verbally, physically and emotionally, contravened the standards of practice of the profession and engaged in disgraceful, dishonourable and unprofessional conduct with respect to one client when she made rude and inappropriate comments about the client, including reference to the size of his penis, using words to the effect of “mangina,” “fat boy,” and/or “dirty pig,” when she punched the client in and around his face and when she threw bunched up paper towel(s) at the client’s face.
Outcome Details:
The Discipline Committee ordered that the member’s certificate of registration be suspended for 6 months; required the member to appear before the panel to be reprimanded; and imposed the following terms, conditions and limitations on the member’s certificate of registration:
- Must successfully complete specified remedial activities
- Must inform employer(s) of results of discipline hearing
- Must inform College of all nursing employer(s) for a period of time
