Details:
The Ontario Court of Justice found the member guilty of:
- theft of hydromorphone, the property of Woodingford Lodge, of a value not exceeding five thousand dollars, contrary to Section 334(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
The Ontario Court of Justice sentenced the member on July 12, 2023 to the following:
- an absolute discharge; and
- a victim surcharge.

Finding Details:
The member was found to have committed professional misconduct in that the member:
- misappropriated property from a client or workplace, contravened the standards of practice of the profession and engaged in disgraceful, dishonourable and unprofessional conduct between September and October 2020, by stealing medication on 10 occasions from patients at the facility;
- contravened the standards of practice of the profession and engaged in disgraceful, dishonourable and unprofessional conduct between September and October 2020, by tampering with medication intended for seven patients; replacing hydromorphone intended for patients with another medication on 10 occasions; and not intervening to prevent nursing colleagues from administering medication that the member had tampered with to five patients; and
- contravened a term, condition or limitation on the member’s certificate of registration and engaged in disgraceful, dishonourable and unprofessional conduct by failing to provide the Executive Director of CNO details of criminal charges when the member was charged in or about April 2021 with six counts of theft of hydromorphone of a value not exceeding five thousand dollars, contrary to Section 334(b) of the Criminal Code.

The Discipline Committee ordered that the member’s certificate of registration be suspended for 10 months; required the member to appear before the panel to be reprimanded; and imposed the following terms, conditions and limitations on the member’s certificate of registration:
- Must successfully complete specified remedial activities
- May not engage in independent nursing practice for a period of time
- Must inform employer(s) of results of discipline hearing
- Must inform CNO of all nursing employer(s) for a period of time
